XT2AW LOTW

This morning I have finally concluded the XT2AW transfers from paper logs to Computer Logs.

9872 ‘new’ Qso’s have now been transferred to LOTW and Clublog. If you see any problems, particularly with ‘times’ then please drop me a line.

RA9USU has announced he will be joining Felipe for this rare actiavtion which means both CW and SSB will be operated.

Although still waiting to obtain the official Chilean licence and authorization to land on San Felix, Felipe CE5WQO has announced he intends to be active from this rare DXCC entity (#12 most wanted on Club Log) sometime between July and September 2016 for up to 3 weeks. Dates will be confirmed by the Chilean Maritime Authority. A full press release will be issued in due course.

GD0A/GD4SKA QRV EU-116

isle of man

John GW4SKA is now qrv from the Isle Of Man (IOTA EU-116).

He is active as GD4SKA until March 23rd on RTTY with some PSK when things slow down.  Listen for him on 3.5 through 28 MHz. He’ll be using a TS590S, Acom 600S amp, Hexbeam, wires and verticals for the low bands.  John is also operating in the BARTG HF RTTY Contest as GD0A on March 19 and 20.

Logs are being uploaded to Clublog daily and traditional Qsl via M0OXO OQRS or Direct Post Mail.

 

 

RC3A (RRC) Tour 2016

On February 29, from Novy Urengoy (Yamal), the Arctic expedition “The Great Northern Way” 2016 started. The historical and geographical forwarding project devoted to the 400th anniversary of the Northern Sea Route is carried out within the comprehensive research program “Riddles of the Russian Arctic”.

Participants of expedition by 2 all-terrain vehicles will pass a route about 10.000 km long on ice of the Siberian rivers, open spaces of the Arctic tundra, and drifting ices of the Arctic seas of Russia: the Ob River – the Yenisei River – Norilsk – Taimyr Peninsula – the settlement of Khatanga – the mouth of the Lena River – Tiksi – Chokurdah – Cherskiy – Pevek – Cape Schmidt – Welen – (Anadyr – Magadan). Change of a route depending on local conditions is possible. It is possible to watch the course of expedition here.

The head of expedition is the President of Expedition Center “Arctic” of the Russian Geographical Society, the Honoured Master of Sports, the honourable polar explorer of Russia, Vladimir Chukov (R3CA).

Callsigns: R3CA/8 (Yamal), R3CA/9 (Taimyr) and R3CA/0 (Yakutia, Chukotka). The main frequency ranges – 7 and 14 MHz SSB (usually around frequency 14120 and 14260 kHz during work from islands +- QRM). Using ICOM IC-7000 transceiver with AH-2b antenna. On parking vehicles wire Inverted-V antennas will be deployed.

Short activation (about one day each) several Arctic islands along the coast of Taimyr, Yakutia and Chukotka is planned:

AS-005 (Dikson Island), AS-152 (Bol’shoy Begichev Island), AS-163 (Makar Island), AS-029 (Bol’shoy Lyakhovsky Island), AS-164 (Nemkov Island), AS-070 (Gusmp Island), AS-038 (Ayon Island), AS-065 (Kolyuchin Island) and others depending on ice situation. The radio operator on a route is Valery Nesterov RA9J. In Tiksi, Yuri Zaruba UA9OBA plans to join the expedition.

QSL cards of R3CA/8/9/0 direct via UA9OBA after the expedition will be dispatched. Also QSL’s of 1995-2011 for R3CA/1/9/0, CE8/9/R3CA, KC4/R3CA/ANT are available.

K5P QSL Card arrived in the mail this week.

Qso’s for this rare entity (Palmyra & Jarvis Islands) were uploaded to LOTW very fast so the paper card really only required for the IOTA collection.

None the less very efficient and fast Qsl’in, thanks to the team.

 

 

 

 

 

Baker Island plans announced

Baker Island Coastline

Hrane, YT1AD as leader and Paul N6PSE, Dave K3LP and Aleksey UA4HOX as Co-leaders, plan a large-scale DXpedition to Baker Island, part of the Baker & Howland Island, DXCC prefix KH1.

The IOTA reference for Baker & Howland Islands is OC-089. WAZ zone is 31. Lat: 0.505365 N; Lon: -176.572266 W

The expedition is planned for September/October 2017. Landing on the island requires a special permit USFW service. Permit coming soon. 

 The team will be composed of members from WWDX, Intrepid DXers and other interested amateurs.

QSL Card received yesterday from HS3NBR for AS-145.

The card was for the Maeo Island Dxpedition IOTA AS-145 activated by HS3NBR back in August 2015.
