GB23C Coronation of HM King Charles III

GB23C will be operational from 3-9 May from the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich to celebrate the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III.
 
The public web site for this project is www.gb23c.com and the Old Royal Naval College is ornc.org
After the initial operation from Maritime Greenwich, GB23C will be available to be operated by other groups through to the end of June
 
The station is organised and run by Cray Valley Radio Society www.cvrs.org
 
GB23C at Greenwich will consist of three HF stations and one VHF station.
 
Logs will be uploaded daily to the QSL manager Charles, M0OXO.

With this Final Press Release the team want to express gratitude to all our sponsors that generously supported our Bouvetøya adventure. Without the upfront support this trip would simply not be possible.
We announce today that we have decided to refund $50,000 of the donations to the DX
community.
 
One month before we departed Falkland Island, we informed the DX community we had financed our budget. We have continued to receive a great amount of financial support up until now. This way we can reduce the $25,000 operator fee, and at the same time we are able to refund the DX community.
We have decided to refund our Lead Sponsor NCDXF with $40,000. Initially NCDXF supported the team with their largest grant ever $100,000. It is with pleasure we can give back as much as 40% of the donation to them.
 
We will distribute the rest of the refund among our major club sponsors who all stepped up and donated generously to this DXpedition.
 
We will refund the following clubs and organizations with apprx. 10% of their donation GDXF $3,000, INDEXA $1,000, ARRL Colvin Award $500, NIDXA $500, FEDXP $500, TCDXA $500, SEDXC $500, LADX group $300, Clipperton $300, South Carolina $300,

2022-2023 Mailing Costs

9th April 2023

As the 2022 – 2023 financial tax year comes to an end, it is time to take a look at how our mailing facility has worked over the last year. Overall 15,185 items of mail were posted at a cost of £13,626.65. We post QSL cards, bureau parcels and magazines using the various products as shown in the table above. With 2,978 more items posted this year, with Solar Cycle 25 this last 6 months providing much increased propagation on HF and an increase in DXpedition activity along with less Covid restrictions on the travel industry.

DX’pedition QSL costs are very competitive as always and we welcome talking to DX teams about mailing your QSL cards in the future. The biggest challenge to Bureau shipments is the worldwide customs regulations where we are seeing many countries putting a customs tax on Bureau shipments.
Like last year the benefit of Brexit is that we no longer have to pay 20% tax on sending mail to EU countries a saving of £1k year on year.

With more DXpeditions over the next 12 months we remain positive for the future with only small increase in postage costs over the last 12 months.

HQ2E Honduras

Uli, (DM5EE), is currently qrv in the CQ WPX SSB Contest as HQ2E from the Radio Club de Honduras station in San Pedro Sula. He is using an IC-7300, TH7 and a 2 element 40 meter Yagi.
 
Listen for him on 40-10 Meters. He probably won’t be on 160 or 80 meters due “to limited antennas and the city location”. For stations west of him it might be challenging as there is a mountain range about a half a mile away, which may impact “all westerly directions from 180 degrees to 360 degrees”.

Pierre VE3KTB will be back in Eureka on Ellesmere Island (NA-008) in Nunavut, Canada from the 15th of March to the 12th of April 2023.
 
He will be QRV from Eureka Amateur Radio Club as VY0ERC and VE3KTB/VY0 on HF bands as well as FM and linear satellites by SSB, Digital & CW.

V26EI Antigua

V26EI Antigua Island (IOTA NA-100)
 
11 members of the EI DX Group will be QRV from the 24th of March to the 2nd of April 2023 from Antigua Island, using the call V26EI. It is hoped to have the station built in time for the “CQ WW WPX SSB Contest”. The team will be running four IC-7300’s when fully setup and expect to operate all modes over the nine days. We hope to be QRV on 60m & 6m also subject to propagation.
 
FT8 Operating will use MSHV only!
